Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM)

The Department of Education published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) with some key regulations that impact our institutions.   On July 31^st 2018 a notice was published that impacts Defense of Repayment (DOF) and on August 15^th 2018 another notice was published that would impact Gainful Employment (GE).  The revisions proposed are:

• DOF – Amend regulations governing Direct Loans to establish a federal standard for evaluating, and a process for adjudicating, borrowers defenses to repayment. The regulations would also amend the financial responsibility standards.
• GE – On August 14^th 2018 a notice was published to rescind the Gainful Employment regulations. Instead they propose to update the College Scorecard or something similar, to provide program level outcomes for all institutions.
