Florida Universities May Ask For $45 Million Boost In Financial Aid After Bright Futures Cuts
“Florida universities say they need millions to deal with the fallout from changes to the state’s popular Bright Futures scholarship program,” The Associated Press reports.
“The Board of Governors is expected this week to discuss a request to boost financial aid that goes to students who come from lower income families.
Universities say $45 million is needed from the Legislature because of the reduction in the number of students qualifying for Bright Futures. Legislators changed the eligibility standards for the lottery scholarship program in 2010 and 2011.”
